That is, this picture:
Now, there’s a reason why it bugs me. And it’s not because it’s SoRiku. I like SoRiku, actually. What bugs me? Is this is an edit of the following picture by Pixiv artist KL.
I have looked through KL’s gallery, and there is no other, missing Kairi piece. There’s just this one, with all three. Now, let’s talk other proof.
There are three circles here. Let’s talk about them.
The first one is at the top of the paopu. If you look at the outline, it doesn’t match up. (Look at the red circleless one to better see it.) As well some of the shading is subtly off.
The second circle shows that part of Kairi’s elbow was missed in erasing her.It can still be seen through the hole made by Riku’s arm.
The third shows Kairi’s leg, with part of her dress recolored to be Riku’s shorts. However, the positioning is awkward if it’s Riku. I don’t know anyone who sits like that.
The lines on the sea are also subtly off, and probably the only really good editing was in the clouds, which seem to have been edited with much care. But even then, there is something very off with the clouds.
That’s right. They aren’t the same clouds.
So what’s the point of this? To point out that someone was petty enough over a ship that they took a beautiful piece of art and edited out a character. Just because it had Kairi in it and wasn’t SoRiku.
This is bullshit, fandom. Very major bullshit. Ship what you want, but do not—DO FUCKING NOT—edit art JUST BECAUSE IT’S NOT YOUR SHIP only to remove a character, especially if he or she is important to the characters in question. It’s petty and makes you look very, very bad.
Kairi isn’t cockblocking SoRiku. It is, frankly, insulting to homosexual people to assume that someone of the opposite sex can steal a homosexual person. So if you think these two are gay? Someone of the opposite sex shouldn’t matter. At. All. They can still be just friends, and honestly, given Kairi’s personality? She would ship them as much as you because what matters to her is their happiness.
So stop the bullshit like this. Because that’s what it is.
